Viva Las Vegas Series #13- Victory Rolls Tutorial on Diary of a Vintage Girl
If there is anyone who doesn't read the blog Diary of a Vintage Girl (is there actually anyone who doesn't?!?) the magical Fleur de Guerre has posted one of the best tutorials I have seen for Victory rolls. Isn't she brilliant? Her hair makes me want to grow out my bangs- should I?

Stylish Blogger
I just got a Stylish Blogger award from the super-stylish-herself Miss Cherry Bubbles of the blog Past Life. Thanks kitten!Part of the award is to share seven facts about myself which is the best part about getting the award, I think.
I wasn't too hip on the buttons everyone is using for the award so I made one of my own. It is an homage to everything I loved about the 80's. Does that count as one of my 7 things?
Anyhoo- on to my life-shattering facts:
1. I started performing professionally at age 12 and sang for 2 Presidents before the age of 16.
2. I have an accordion named Delores Lorraine after my maternal grandmother who first taught me big band songs to sing. I don't know how to play it, yet, because I need a new shoulder strap ;)
3. I am afraid of basements. My husband has to do our laundry right now because the basement of our 1884 building is WAY creepy.
4. When I was 36 I started smoking out of the blue for a year and a half and quit cold turkey with no problems. I can't stop drinking Mt. Dew though...
5. I am totally obsessed with ruffles, especially can-can skirts.
6. To me nothing sounds better than listening to music on vinyl.
7. Like Miss Cherry Bubbles I am on the verge of having my Masters degree in Library Science, as well as a 2nd Masters in Music History, to be a Music Librarian. However, my real dream is to own a shop with my husband that carries items for reenactors and people who are interested in vintage or historical lifestyles.
Now that we are acquainted, I can move on to the next part of the award. I am supposed to chose 7 other bloggers to give the award to but there is no way I can chose that few out of all of the amazing blogs I read every day. So I was hoping that my awesome readers would leave some comments telling me interesting facts about themselves OR give themselves the award and leave a link to their blog post with their 7 interesting facts.

Las Vegas Series #12- Pomades for Men
If your man hasn't been reading the Art of Manliness blog he needs to get his tushy on over there immediately! Not only do they have ruggedly amazing posts about manly man things (like how to wrestle an alligator or how to be a professional stuntman), they also have giveaways. Right now they have a blog post on vintage pomades, how to apply them and wash them out and their modern equivalents. Perfect for VLV 14!

Viva Las Vegas Series Update
Hey readers!
Sorry it's been a while since I have posted anything about Viva. Grad school and an internship are kicking my butt and I have a show coming up this weekend for Valentine's Day with my group Bootless Betties. Once I get past this Sunday I should be able to start posting some yummy highlights on music, including a "get ready" playlist!
In the meantime, Temperamental Broad has just posted a great overview about getting ready for VLV. If you haven't seen it yet, git on over!

Viva Las Vegas Series #11- Vintage Cardigans under $15
VLV 14 may be in Vegas but it's still April and it gets cold at night in the desert. Be prepared with some cute vintage cardigans! I found some that are under $15 on etsy and created a treasury. Some of the sweaters are on a limited time sale, so if you see anything you like you might want to snatch it up!
You may have noticed that I am putting up a lot of vlv posts on things to buy. I am doing this for a few reasons: 1. now is the time to order things to get them on time for the event; 2. the delightful Miss Dollie DeVille of The Rockabilly Socialite is doing a great job of covering more logistical things of the weekender, which I totally bow to because she has been there and I haven't; and 3. I haven't had a chance to scan in some of my vintage books with hair, make-up and clothing suggestions yet. Look forward to some more of those posts along with posts on individual bands and their music.

Also don't forget that if I can get to 350 followers by the end of March I will be having a huge Viva giveaway, so let your blogging friends know because I am at 271 right now.

Vintage Flea Market Swap
A new petite inspiration swap on Speckled Egg is starting and spaces are filling up fast! I can see why- the theme is flea market finds and it is specifically geared towards vintage. I just adore these swaps because you decorate a large match box and fill it with spectacular, but affordable, goodies. It doesn't take a lot of time, it's not too expensive because of the size of the box and the people who do these swaps have pretty amazing taste. It's like a mini-christmas every time you open it. And because you get paired with 2 other people you get 2 of these wonderful surprise boxes!
The last swap I did with Speckled egg gave me these two wonderful halloween boxes and goodies:
